Hi Guys,
My info is 170lb 5'9.
Been surfing a 6'0 Dominator for 2 months now 2-3 ft beach break waves. FCS k2.1 medium. I can ride it down the line all day but the response is a bit stiff. Should I go down to a 5'10 or a 5'8? Or should I get a performance hybrid? any recommendations? like the mini-driver?
Trying to perfect my bottom turn n hitting the lip. Thanks Guys

I'd go 5'8", but if you're in punchy waves you could look at the performance hybrids also.

Thanks for the quick response!
From a 6'0 to a 5'8 Dom is almost 4 liter drop. Would that be too much of a transition?
How would the paddling be?

Yea, the 6'0 is way to big for you. I ride a 5'6 and looking to possibly get a 5'4 and I weigh between 155-160. I think you could even ride the 5'6, but the 5'8 will float you plenty!

Just bought a 6'0 Jack Knife at ZJ Boarding House!!!
Do you think it will do well in 2-4ft waves? riding them in the k2.1

I am a bit heavier than the thread host: 175lb (80kg) by 5'10 (179cm)
Should I go for the 5'8 or 5'10 dominator?

If you're a competent surfer I'd still say 508 unless your planning on using it for small mush.

i am 178lbs 6.1", i ride a 5.8 dominator and to me its the best board in the world, i love it! i rode a 5.10 and compared to the 5.8 it felt like a dog, the difference between the 2 was huge. I think with the dominator you need to find that magic volume for your weight for it to light up, i still catch waist high waves with ease.
i'd even be tempted at your weight to go 5.6.

5'8" more than enough flotation
