Crossfire is a hybrid technology, combining the bamboo deck skin of Rapidfire Technology on both the top and bottom decks with the Balsa Parabolic rails of Future Shapes Technology to control flex. The result is a durable, lightweight surfboard with great flex characteristics.

Why did you stop making the longboards in FST? I love them in FST!

there were a few factors. One is weight. We get the same durability and a better weight with the bamboo instead of the high density foam. the aesthetic appearance also plays a role. Most importantly, however, was the performance based feedback from riders, particularly Taylor Jensen. After extensive R&D the Crossfire in longboards won out and that is the way we have gone...
Its possible to order them in FST however if you are comfortable waiting for it to be built.

Crossfire is beautiful! It'd be cool if more and more boards like the Dom etc. expanded into Crossfire over time.
yessssss sirrrrr!!!!.I'm on the same page with prjwebb

@Chris, picking the two up, the FST version always felt lighter to me. I guess you folks would know better, though.
How do I custom order, contact the local rep or Firewire directly?
Thanks!

hey chingbaby,
we don't build custom longboards at this point, but if you wanted to special order one in the FST tech, then just do so with your local Firewire dealer and have them contact us.

Unless you're a pro longboarder wouldn't most people opt for more weight over a light one? I sure would.

a matter of preference i would think. We don't shoot to emulate the weight of traditional PU logs so it depends on what you want out of a longboard. Lightweight performance or a more weighted cruisey ride. I think actually there are a lot of people on both camps. You ought to see taylor surf both his 900 and 904. Cool to watch. Other long boarders have been giving great feedback on that front as well.
Cheers all!

All,
I happened to find an FST 9' squash tail that someone special ordered and then failed to pick up. This is a recent one with no pressure valve. I thought the older one with the valve was good. This one is AMAZING. Let me say that again. AMAZING. Great construction, weight, flex, and overall feel. I have two more on order and will not be canceling either one.
Chris, I know what you said about your reasons for going to crossfire only for the flexflights, but the FSTs are just amazing. I'm no TJ, and I'm sure he has his reasons, but I know what I like and enjoy, and your FST 9' squash tail is a phenomenal board.
Great job!
Mike
