Looks fun. How are they different than a normal skateboard? Are they the same as these?

Same company. The beauty of it is on the front truck called the C7 which has an extra axis of movement. This makes the board gain speed as you pump it, same that when surfing. This is gonna allow me to get in gear even before my season starts again!!

I have used long board skateboards to help keep me dialed in during flat spells. The end result was much smoother cutbacks and flow in general. I would set up cones to help simulate the bottom turn into the cutback frontside and backside. It really helped with muscle memory with my set body positions for the basic power turns. It looks like this helps bridge the gap even further with the whole pumping action. I want one bad!! Thanks for posting

iggy and slow are the official forum "frothing grommets"...i'm boring old school...if flat i just go out anyway and paddle way out to sea...sometimes i turn around and come back...!!
For sure they are expensive slow!!!.
Dave if I could venture into the water at tho point in time believe me I wouldn't have to be inventing things to do!!!;).
I'll be more than happy to be able to go paddle right now but th icebergs don't agree with me

if thats anything like the early "pump" style boards then it will train you into a front foot style..well sort of....be good to get a 1980's style board as well and "tic tac" your speed up off the kick tail...(good to do this along where the road slopes into the gutter..after making sure its safe in regards to traffic of course..!!..go both directions for backhand/forehand)...massive back leg burn..!!!... then you will be well rounded and ready to shred when it thaws..!!

i suppose having a focus on being active, it would be remiss of me not to mention that we all should keep well stretched (flat spell or not) and use down time to assess your body for under-developed areas/weaknesses, poor posture or alignment and any niggles or injuries you know about. Surfing is notorious for causing or contributing to these issues..this is not comprehensive advice, just some starting points to think about...before commencing any new exercise or program and if in doubt, see your doctor..
of course like the chain smoking whiskey drinking doctor who tells you to avoid mans vices, i myself dont stretch nearly enough, am always slouched on the lounge etc and as a consequence my lower back goes on strike regularly, forcing me to crawl up the beach on all fours..!!

I just use a longboard when it's flat. There's always some rideable wave.

core in regards to your posture. my orthopedist recommended these shirts made by intelliskin to help with my shoulder woes.. they are amazing for real! i had my doubts but they straighten you up and make you sore if you wear them for too long in the beginning..

KDROP..that type of thing is good for "retraining" you to hold yourself correctly..more convenient than the good ol' way of getting someone else to plaster tape all over you..(i know a couple of pros that do this to remind themselves to move correctly..particularly with setting their scapula re shoulder/neck woes)..
my problem is sloth and gluttony...!!

My problem is Arnotts Chocolate Monte's...and Arnotts Double Choc Tim Tams. But for that fiendish Arnotte's enterprise (coupled with my weak will and love of chocolate coated biscuits) I'd look like George Clooney and surf like Kelly Slater.

Oh dear! Chris, when you have such charming ales like Stones Arrogant Double Bastard Ale and other IPAs, why mention let alone drink such swill! Then of course there is the more mass produced Sierra Nevada Fat Tire Ale (similar to Coopers (red) Sparkling Ale) and even Sam Adams or Becks is so much nicer!
Iggy, I've had Molsen's, it's good ....but when you wake up it feels like you were hit in the head by a puck a dozen or more times.

WC Fields always said never trust a man that doesn't drink! I suppose I drink only enough really to make me somewhat trustworthy. Maybe 2 or 3 beers in a week sometimes 3 months in between drinks...so I just like to drink something nice when I do, likewise with wine. After about 3 drinks I'm asleep these days :-)

When you get out of your out of your 20s and your an athlete drinking is really not good. It causes inflamation. Not a good thing when you paddle a lot. I ice both my shoulders after every surf. I feel like a major league pitcher. I like to drink when I'm out with friends but man it takes its toll on me more than it used to. I would much rather vaporize a little green!

Cross training TOTAL GYM is a good work out and later I usually resort to "BED SURFING", Isnt that why they call them "LAY-DAYS". Of course there is a WEEK" every month I have to find something else" to do when the surf is flat..
My Wife bought herself (YEAH!!!) a long skate board this year. Funny I am starting to use it more than her, looking at quiet down hill streets as the flat day alternative. Its like surfing a huge point break, carving from side to side of the street, She follows me in the van so I dont have to walk back the 1/2 mile. Id be interested in that new surfskate board if it did not cost more than a used Firewire...

Cool....IGGY that you? totally flat ground and you can just pump the speed out, what model did you get? length? I have a wider stance (long legs) and would ride some gradual hills (15 to 25 mph max) carving back and forth.. The Carver Website shows them at $215. each with the C-7 truck. Probably $300 + here in Hawaii.
That's the Monsta.Yup that was last week. Went for a check and saw there was too much ice (don't want to mess un the board) so I took that one out of the turnk of the car. Noah Ericsson is a rider for them as well. The beauty of it is that it generates speed even going uphill due to the C7 truck. This thing kept my sanity during winter when there were icebergs the size of cars coming downstream!!!
Today I got a 3hrs sesh with the water at around 8C and outside temp around 16C on my spitfire... oh man what a joy even though the wave was flat!!.My legs are burnt!!!! Feels soooooo good!!!

That 17" wheel base too short for me. I am thinking the 36" woodie 19.5" or the 42 " Flowmaster with the 23 to 25" wheel base

Iggy,
Just picked up a monster carver for myslf. It's alot of fun. Can't believe how far I can go just pumping down the road. Spending alot of time on it working on bottom turns and cut backs. Havn't been in the water on any good waves since then so the jury is still out to see how it helps my surfing. I figure my bottom turns and cutties should improve not to mention the great core workout. Great video.

Bumper believe me, on flat days an hour of this a day will improve your surfing tremedously. Gives you core and leg strength. Sometimes I even use it as a "stretching" after sessions. The biggest advantage you'll noticve as you mentioned is in the bottom turns and cutbacks
Great buy in my opinion!!!

Just picked up the GREAT WAVE 37" Carver Skate Board with C-7 trucks, Already rode it in a parking lot up and down a light grade no problem, till my legs were sore from pump-swirving around, what a great workout.. I was cruising fast in a matter of 5 pumps I can tell this is going to be part of the cross training program when the waves are flat or blown out. Its will be in the truck all the time .

Iggy, if you've got a river it never goes flat right? Unless there's a drought.

Iggy cool truck C-7 System, good find, glad I checked it out and have one now...
Buddy you'll see how much your surf is going to improve with this thing, Give it mere 30 mins every once in a while (although I know it will be more than that for sure) and your upper body will have to catch up with your lower.

Chris , did you get a Carver skate street surfer also?. Jsut started using it this past week... but, I am bumming at the moment, with sinus infection and the surf is going off on 3 sides of the island. fought it off for a week, fever @102 had to take Azithromycin today after 7 years of no prescription drugs. So Dizzyfrom that crap now I cant even stand... Cant surf, cant skate or workout, only can just LURK here on the message boards and watch surf videos. its a 5 day treatment pack, then back in the water to blow that sH!T out...
Chris

bummer fritz. I have used this board a bit, but not the one Iggy has.

I actually got a staph infection and had to take antibiotics to get over it but that is way different than being put on a long term prescription program so don't sweat it.
Wait until you try one!!!
