5'6 or 5'8

I m a french guy .....(sorry for my language plz ) Im really interressed by a SP but i don t know which choosing : 5'6 or 5'8 ? I m an intermediate surfer , 40 years old and 80 kgs .

My quiver : 9'4 , 5'10 motorboat

Hey Ray,
I think the 506 is the max. Perhaps even a 504 would work, but a 508 is way too big for your weight...

Salut Raycas. Moi j'ai 37ans, 84Kgs et ride un potato 5'2". La 5'4" je pense que c'est la planche pour toi. Ca va te donner le petit extra pour ces jours ou les conditions sont pas si bonnes. La potato est vraiment polyvalente et elle va te permettre de surfer memme dans de très petites vagues.
Moi j'avais un 5'6" et je l'ai trouve que ça flottait trop, je l'ai vendu pour m'en acheter la 5'2"

Hey Ray, I can read a little french and based on your last comment I just want to add that the 506 definitely has enough volume and it may be the right call if you have ridden boards with more volume. Just think about how big of a step you want to make, as either board will work. The 504 will just take a little more work and time to get used to.

Hey Ray, la 5'6" je l'ai trouve trop volumineuse pour moi, mais comme Chris viens de dire, ça dépends de ce que t'est habitue de surfer et c'est quoi ton niveau du surf.. La potato est une planche désigne pour des petites vagues, alors en allant trop petit comme on dis en anglais "defeats the purpose". Par contre, trop grand et ça va sentir comme un longboard. Un chose a dire, la potato est une planche que doit être "surfe" avec ton pieds en arrière vraiment en arrière.
La 5'4" va prendre un peut plus d'ajustement que la 5'6" mais a la fin je pense que tu as avoir plus de fun sur elle. La 5'6" serais plus adaptable plus rapidement...mais avec 40ans on est encore jeune ;)

C'es quoi les conditionnes ans lesquelles la planche va être surfee? (des anglicismes par tout ;) )
Si tu bouge pas trop a planche et tu la veut pour just t'amuser dans des petites vagues, la 5'6" a plus le feeling d'une planche beaucoup plus large. La queue est vraiment large alors ça te permettre de prendre des vagues vraiment petites mais ça eneve un peut dans la maneuverabilite. T'as tu un courriel électronique?. J'ai un video que j'ai mis de mon potato 5'6" comme ça tu vas voir un peut de quoi je parle.
La 5'4" va ajouter un peut plus de maneuverabilite.

Cette saison , on a eu un bon mois de Mars depuis c est un peu moins bien !!! Mais quand ça marche , c est pas mal !!!

Sinon , j ai vu une 5'2 dans un surfshop cet apres midi ........ et bien , je l ai prise car pas de stock sur les 5'4 et 5'6 !!!! Effectivement , je pense que la 5'2 sera parfaite ! Par contre quels ailerons conseilles tu ?

Controllers (dans le cas t'as choisi futures) ou quelque chose a ver beaucoup de volume pour te donner du drive

When I was in the Mentawais earlier this year the water was like 28-30 C and out of the water was around 36-38 C...you sweated bullets in the water but...ill take that over 16C water any day. Where do you live again Iggy? I didnt know it got that hot up there??

A dedicated board for only big waves I would say the MB or the Alternator. If you want something a bit more all rounder maybe the sub-scorcher or the Hellfire.
I particularly believe you would love the Hellfire, but how big is big?

So let me get this right...you get 40 C in summer and ice chunks going down the river messing up your Potato in winter and lots of snow etc etc...... and I thought Australia was extreme

It's not far is it. In the Cornwall we just get 0-8C in the winter with rain, odd bit of sunshine and maybe a little snow. Then in the summer it's currently 10-15C, windy, moments of sunshine then heavy downpours, flooding around the country... I'd be loving it if it actually warmed up here! Haven't been in the sea in shorts here for a good 10 years. We used to get 30C 'heat waves' but don't seem to anymore.

You could go many different ways depending on for preferences
Alternator or Hellrazor are good choices if you're planning on using this board for only bigger conditions.Speaking of which, how big is big at your local break?
I like myself the Hellfire since it will cover a little more ground

Yeah you could kill two birds in one shot!!. THe kite boards a a bit heavier due to reinforcements on the deck but the KHF510 looks good!

finally , i ve taken a 5'6 KHF and an used 6'2 HF . I LOVE the 6'2 . What a great board : easy to paddle , fast and drive . I m very happy of my little quiver !!
