Brian, do you test out different fin configurations often. I saw a review somewhere that "Top Hat" likes using just two fins. Lately I've been using the normal quad setup but have also thrown the deviant fin in as well when cruising in flat/choppy water and trying freestyle moves. Maybe the extra grip just lets me be more impromptu about where and what I decide to air off of but I like it. Maybe in the waves it would not as useful since there should be more fluidity in wave riding. Any thoughts?
Hey Paolo, absolutely! Love to try different fin setups, designs, etc. So fare the best configuration that I've found for the Vanguard is a smaller tri fin setup. Specifically the Futures John John's in TechFlex seem to work really well. Of course, fin setup like anything else has a lot of personal preference. I like the feel and tight turning of a tri setup, others may prefer a quad setup for racing down the line speed. Try out some different fins when you get a chance and make your own determination.
I suggest this long board surfboard configuration to you. This design can follow by professional skaters.
