commented on 's reply to Quad or 5 fin setup for Slab
Pretty sure this is usually an issue with the trailing edge of a fin. A light sand may do the trick if you can see or feel any noticeable "line deviation" - not sure what the correct hydrodynamic...

Like the CC, I didn't like the Unibrow. To me, both felt like there was a lot of foam under my face - I realise there are hundreds of people who love both these boards. The # feels like the foam is more...

I just really love the flex in those fins. They have a bit more tip area than the AMs. More like the Mick Fanning fins.
I reckon the board will go well with whatever is your normal fin of preference....

I have been using my Kinetic Racing JP5 Carbo Tune thruster set-up. They go great. I will probably try Large Al Merrick tech flex on reef breaks.
Pretty much the same set up as my other boards.

I used to own a 5'11 CC and now have a 6'0" # and the paddling & wave catching ability of the # is so much better than the CC. Amazing for boards that have just 0.1 litre difference. One of the...

NO! GO! Even if you paddle out before sunrise, your face will look as though you forgot to bring sunscreen before you catch your first wave. : )

  • Hi Rhill,
I am pretty similar dims to you - 48 this year, 91kg at the moment (and more or less for the last year) (or 2), and I am 5'10" which is pretty much all year round.
    Had a 6'0"...

replied to Review of 5'4 Vader
Everyone has their own quad - thruster preferences and I don't usually comment on this, but it is going to be hard to stall a quad in the pocket. Especially hard when attached to the Vader. You may find...

    replied to # versus MB
It looks like an all round shape rather than a semi step up. But should still go great up to DOH in average to perfect waves. I wish they had gone up one more size and with a 5 fin option. Although as...

In terms of overlap - I think both boards have a pretty identical range of waves. The MB is a very versatile HP board. There difference lies in the types of lines you are going to draw. A bit cruisey...

Whoops! That was my misread. My comments are in relation to the MD, (so its not a typo in my post) not the MB (which I also happen to have in a 6'0" - thick version)
    Yeah the MB is absolutely...

Having had a MD and now a #, I would say they are a total overlap, but I feel that my Hashtag has a higher level of performance than the MD.
Which is the opposite of a comment I made prior to owning...

If by "shallow sandbanks" you mean that its a sucky take-off and barrelling wave, then I would not recommend the Dom. It is a great board - had mine for ?? 5 years - quite a while. But it does...

  • I think the MB5 set will be great in the Mini Driver. They are some of the smaller 'large' fins out there. However you already seem to be riding quite large fins for your body weight. Expect them to feel...

No worries. But my heart isn't exactly bleeding for you with the high quality summer waves that Sydney is renowned for, dribbling through like clockwork right now.
