Hey walkingdisater for your skill level and the type of waves you ride I would encourage you to check out the Spitfire. It's available in TimberTek. Have you seen how beautiful TimberTech is?
Check out Shane Dorian's TimberTech: http://snapwidget.com/view/?id=42526...3#.UWhKK7WG1gg
Ultra lightweight, beautiful, durable, very user friendly design that rips--see chuy on the homepage (spitfire). What's not to like? Of course you can get it in FST as well.

Appreciate the update Chris. What other models can we expect to see in TimberTek and how soon? TimberTek Tomo gotta nice ring to it you think?

Recently I've been hearing of folks in Hawaii filing their Deviant fins down to a knubster and apparently they work really good! Any possibility for a 'deviant knubster' production model there Chris?

I have really enjoyed the footwells I have created on the deck of my bamboo rapidfire. FST tend to crack before they will dent in my experience. Can anyone compare/contrast the white rapid fire with the bamboo rapidfire?

Hey guys. I have some info from Tomo regarding sizing for Next Gen designs which includes the Vanguard. I hope this helps.
Next Gen Models: Order the Next Gen at Chin height (approx 8” shorter than standing height) 1 inch” narrower than what you generally feel is your minimum shortboard width. Same thickness as be what you would consider ideal for you weight, ability and general wave conditions.
(** Next Gen Sizing is considered for surfers of average ability or fitness and higher.
Although this sizing seems very small for general paddling and riding, please be assured that due to the unique distribution of volume, the Next Gen boards will float/paddle at least as well as a standard shortboard in flat water situations & catch waves better than boards 12” longer. Performance is guaranteed to be mind blowing**)Leave a comment:

I've been riding the Tomo vector quad, 5'10" X 19 1/2" X 2 1/2" and thin foiled rails. I reckon the volume is around 29 Liters. My much loved 6'0" Spitfire has almost 6 more liters. I agree with Chris the Tomos are wicked fast and you have a lot of control of maneuvers. I'm looking forward to the five fin option. The quads on my board are hatchet type glass-ons designed by Tomo. They are tiny 4" height single foil front, 3 3/4" double foil back and for a guy my size 6' 5" tall, 200 lbs they go insane. Does anyone know where we can purchase similar type fins compatible for FCS and Futures?

I guess God was listening eh Chris? Ha-ha. Mark and Tomo made a great call. These are exciting times at Firewire. I hope you will get on these apex boards asap. A lot of sharp folks on this forum appreciate the answers you provide. Oh lordy, this is going to be fun!Originally posted by John808 View PostStep ups, tow boards all good. I freaked on a Daniel "Tomo" Thompson design, like the one Curren beat Dane Reynolds on and all I could think was please God apply Firewire tech to these unique apex performance designs. That would be a pretty good breakthrough I reckon.

I'm with you tsaracen. There was some discussion about Tomo back in July on a couple of general surf news threads and then to see the announcement was like a bolt of lightning. I just about fell out of my chair! Tomo offers quite a range of innovative designs. I hope they will offer some dims for "Big Boys". This forum will most definitely go ballistic when they come out. Real mind bender boards and oh so fun to ride. I'm 6'5" tall, 200lbs, 50 yrs and ride a Tomo 5'10" x 19 1/2" x 2 1/2" Vector Quad---who'd of thought?Originally posted by tsaracen View PostNice. Got a Tomo Nano last year and its a great board. Stoked to see Tomo get more widespread distribution. He's got some different ideas about surfboard design, its great to see Firewire diversify its line. Also it'll help people actually get a Tomo board - from what I hear the wait time for a Tomo has gone through the roof in the last year. Any idea which model(s) will be available, how will they handle the hatchet fins?

Eh Cuttlefish. Howzit bruddah!
Your guess may be correct on many levels. Then again Mayhem is doing a great job in multi tech and we are fortunate to have him. The Firewire production/distribution network makes these designers shapes more accessible for all of us. Buzzy really nailed it when he said "I'd just be happy to see as big a range of choices in this tech as is reasonably possible."Leave a comment:

I know what you are saying prjwebb. I thought the same. What I found out when I got my feet on one of these little speed demons is if you can ride a hp shortboard, you can ride these futuristic designs. In fact you may feel even more comfortable. Tomo's neighbor growing up was George Greenough and he is on a different path. The folks on this forum are some of the most informative and passionate surfers anywhere. I'm sure you will agree breakthrough design with innovative tech is a good thing.I don't think I could get my head around that...

That is great to hear Chris. I would like to ask everyone on this forum if they would be interested in Daniel "Tomo" Thompson, 2X Sacred Craft Winner, designs in Firewire tech. Folks I drank the Kool-Aid. It's kind of mind boggling a board so small can go so good. Some of you in Australia I'm sure know Tomo is on to something. Firewire tech could only make it that much better. Is this the next big thing? The following is the dims formula you would use for the most recent designs. Pretty rad huh?but in all seriousness, we wouldn't be doing our jobs if we weren't always looking for the next best thing...

Great to see Firewire continues to innovate with their new White Rapid Fire tech. Are there other new techs in the Firewire pipeline? I'm hearing there is some "dang hard to ding" eco friendly materials with good flex properties out there that don't suck water.

I'm so stoked MB's are offered in both thick and thin versions. I hope the Minnie Driver will be offered the same. How cool is that when you find a design you are totally frothing for and all the dims including (VOLUME) are spot on or very close?
