just what I needed Brian, thank you very much. I will buy the 5'8 jacknife and get my local repair shop to do it for me.

    Brian, help please

Brian, I would have PM'd you but for some reason it wont let me send PM's anymore.

I really fancy the jacknife 5'8 from the surfboard line up, how close are we to being able to order one in a kite construction? If it isn't going to happen, then any advice on how to strengthen the deck to give me the best chance of protecting it for kiting? not after any guarantees, but would a length of S glass on the top plus another patch for the front foot be Ok without affecting the ride/flex too much?

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

How do I strengthen a deck for kiting?

    Hi guys,

I am a strapless kiter, I have a kiteboarder version FireWire, but really fancy a non kiting version shape, the jackknife 5'8.

I know the FST construction is the best surfboard construction, just want some ideas/advice on strengthening for kiting. Not after any guarantees and know I will be responsible for breaking it whenever that happens.

I intend to stick a front foot pad on to help, but my questions are; 1 or2 layers of glass or should I use carbon? What type of glass and do I just do a patch where my front foot is or do I carry it all the way back and if so how much wil it effect the flex?

    Any and all help/suggestions welcome.

    Thanks mike

    Rapidfire construction for kiting

Seen some great photos of Warrick Meyer in SA riding hard on a Rapidfire with a deck pad. I'm not after any guarantees or anything, but how will it hold up to kiting do you think?

As Phil said, absolutely. I have no problem waiting 2 months waiting if I can pick any FireWire in kiting (strapless construction).

I think it would be a winner, as the whole experienced surfboard kiting community can handpick their shape knowing it will hold up to kiting forces.

    I have fancied the alternator.

Queries on the insert free 5'11

    Brian/Felix,

Can you share any info on the lighter, insert free 5'11 you are working on. I have the old taj, which I love but always ride strapless. So any info re shape, weight, flex, differences, etc etc so I can decide to delay any board purchase til it's out and when is it due?

    Cheers guys

I got my mates in Boardworx , Whitstable , Kent, UK to get my original ones in. They are now a dealer, they have a Taj in stock, but ring them (details on the web ), talk to Mark, Lance or Ollie, say hi from Mike.

I ride in the UK, exactly same conditions and the Taj, which the KP1 replaces has been a great board for the last 18mnths for me and I'm nearly 2 stone heavier than you.

I have 12/9/7 Bandit v's which are quite powerful, that said, UK conditions have gusty frontal wind, I only ride in x on conditions and small ish waves wind blown waves. I find it fine upwind, I use the devient fin on it too, which i think makes a slight difference.

Although on the heavy end of the weight range, i think by being light on your feet and using the kite to carry your weight I find it fine.

I'm 85kg, ride the 5'11 taj strapless last 18months, used to have a 6' quadra 5 but never really used it, as long as your kite is powered I found my taj gets going quickly and is fast and turns/flexes like a dream. Depends if you live with warm or cold wind, I get going from 15mph, but would need more if i was lucky to live somewhere warm.
