Hey Core, What size VG did you go with... Im the same stats basically and have the 54 SP and 62 Bourez thin also. Just curious as to what you got, and how you're liking it(and fin choices). Leaning towards the 56, but a 57 would be PERFECT!! Oh well... Thanks!

Thanks, I feel they will run great once we get some waves...

Checked out your quiver cuttlefish, the AMT fronts with controller rears on my SP sound like a great idea! How do they run on your BP?

    AMT's on a dominator?

Has anyone tried the AMT twin w/ trailer on a dominator? I just bought some because it was a smokin CL deal and my friend has been ripping with them in a different board.

Theyre huge fins with a little nub in the back so I feel it will almost act as a quad, but a bit looser rail to rail with the hold of a trailer???

    Thanks

Ive run my DM with the controller trailers and SA4's. It took some of the bulk of those fins out and made it a bit more pivot-y.

Id say you can mess around with different fins and find something fun

Yeah, a little bit. Im 6'1, 190 LBS, I started on the 5'6 but the 5'4 was perfect.

Got rid of it in anticipation of the baked potato, but was unaware that it wasnt being done in FST, DEALBREAKER!

Got to ride a friends 5'2 the other day in waist high beach break. Felt super fun but not something Id want. Way too skatey.

    Thanks though!!

Might have got the wrong size HF??

Hey guys, just sitting here looking at my boards, and I feel I may have made the wrong choice in my recent hellfire purchase.

Current quiver- 510 Dom 54 SP and NEW 62 Hellfire.

I thought, that being almost exactly the same volume (33.5 Dom & 33.7 HF) it would be the perfect choice. Ive been reading posts on here about peoples dominators and hellfire's, and it seems a much more popular choice to get the HF just 2 inches longer. I know its all personal preference and what waves you're surfing, but even just holding the board seems a *tiny* bit big. Haven't had a chance to surf it yet, been pretty minimal here.

I bought the HF in the hopes of just surfing it chest high+, so its hard to say without having surfed it yet....

Chris, any thoughts would be great, surfing mostly Encinitas up to Oceanside, hopefully just when its got a bit more power.

    Im 6'1 190 LBS. Strong paddleler int-adv.

CANT WAIT TO GET IT WET!!!

    THANKS!

    Potatonator vs. Dom

    Hey,

Looking for some advice on wether to buy a potatonator. I currently have a 54 sweet potato and a 510 Dom. I LOVE the SP, but want a bit more performance out of it. I like the 58 potatonator, but I feel it might be too similar to the Dom.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated...

    Thanks!

    5'8 Dominator

Sold my 5'8 DM a few months ago, and really want it back! It was 5'8 FST, and just want someones opinion on wether to get another FST or rapidfire. I have a 5'4 SP FST and LOVE it, but I think I may like the responsivness of the RF more...

Would love if someone has been on both the FST and RF dominator could tell me their opinion.

    BTW, im 6'1 190 LBS int-adv surfer.

    Gracias...

Id go with the simon anderson quad, theyre a really big fin with lots of drive and great turning capability. You can also buy the 5 fin setup so you can ride it as a thruster when its bigger

Ive been riding the SA as a quad, LOVE it. On a 5'10 spitfire though... Really nice fins, and actually snapped one of the trailers, if anyone has an extra laying around Ill pay for it!

Ive had both boards. 6' Stealth and 5'8 Dom. Ended up keeping the Dom as it was just easier to surf in everyday conditions. The Stealth sort of liked better waves and was real fun in good waves, but around here thats not too often. Buy accordingly...

Yeah, its hard to imagine without trailers, but I guess once this weather passes I think Mitch's has one of those Future tree fins right? Hopefully I can just test some and Ill let you guys know how it went...

    Thanks

    Would it:

    > allow for more stable, agressive turning?
    > provide more grip/control in more punchy/steeper waves?
    > provide more drive?
    > look cool? : )
    > or could it completely ruin the dynamics of the board?

In the last case, I am tempted to go ahead anyway with getting a local shaper to add an extra fin box (Futures) and if it doesn't work, fill it with a box filler. I'd be worried about ruining the V in the tail though.

If it could work, what would be the most optimal position?

    > Inline with the rear fins?
    > Slightly behind the rear fins?
    > Slightly in front of the rear fins?

I got my Potato from Bird down here in San Diego. He had Roper put in that 5th fin on his, a 5'4 I think. Bird swore by it. He said it provided more stability and had surfed it "double overhead." Not sure about that, but whatever.

His was placed slightly behind the rear fins, and was FCS so he had the option to move it up also, which would have put it sort of even with the rear fins I think.

I personally like the feeling of the SP being able to slide the fins out when you want to, I think the 5th fin would eliminate that option.

    Just my opinion

    Twin fin on the SP?

    Hey,

I posted my first post here a bit ago about which SP to get, the 5'6 or 5'4. Im 6'1 200 LBS, and ended up with the 5'6 because I got a smokin deal on it. Ended up trading it for a brand new 5'4 FST because I felt I couldnt throw the 5'6 around like I wanted to. Have been using the Controllers on it and absolutely love it.

Anyway, my question was about trying to throw on a twin setup on it. Has anyone tried it and liked it? I was thinking about the Future K1 or Rasta Keels.

I live in San Diego and mostly surf it 2-5 ft days on sort of mushy days. Any help would be awesome, thanks in addvance!

Looking to buy a new SP, 5'2- 5'6?

Need a little advice on what size SP to get. Im 6'1" and 190 Lbs. Im currently riding a 5'8 Dominator, mostly as a quad with Rusty R2's, Ive always been into shorter wider boards. I actually ride the Dom 4-8 ft. I want the SP for ankle biters to head highish. Any suggestions on what size to get? Im a strong paddler and have been surfing 10 years (23 y/o). And a pretty advanced surfer, any thoughts would be awesome!
