The Jw back fin is smaller than the JW side fins, as is the K2.1 setup. If u ever get bored with the slaters, try the Julians next, I like em both as much as each other. According to the FCS site, Jw's side and centre fins are smaller than the side and centre of K2.1, but JW have more rake back {i think I read that right)

If u love K2.1's u will also love Jw i think. Iv only had em in normal pu boards as my FW are futures. I reckon they are a fantastic fin, drive, looseness, controlled slide when u want it, sheez what more could u want! Me at 170lbs I feel like if I was too much heavier, they would be too loose. My son is 160 lbs advanced surfer and they look perfect for him. Also the wider the tail in the board, the less drive they have. Didnt go real good in my JS Black Box, lacked drive.

Yeah cant wait till Tues when it turns up! Gonna have to redo my other firewires as iv gone down heaps in volume in the last 12 months. The Volume of the 508 Dom seems right. My 6' HF feels too big now. ...mac

As you would expect, the Techflex WCT's are stiffer and drivier than K2.1. The K2.1 felt more playful in everday average beachies. I tried the normal honeycomb WCT and they felt like a bit of a nothing fin, not realdrivey and not real loose..

Fin tests iv done [Me 170lbs, advanced 6' tall 50yro]
on a 6' Hellfire, [which feels a tad big, gonna replace with 5 10 soon]
    ....all thrusters...
WCT techlex...shoulder high nice shape beachie...Real fast, turned nicely but I would of preferred it turn slightly shorter arc, but still ok. Not as loose and pivoty as fcs k2.1. which are my personal fave in most boards. Heaps of projection out of turns, at the end of the wave, board wanted to launch off into the stratosphere. Not for surfers who like a bit of slide in their turns.

Machado's...Smooooth as hell, like putting innersoles in ur shoes! nice speed, but again personally would like a bit looser.

Clay Marzo 2.......for me the best so far, Heaps of drive, and speed, yet free and not tracky . Has that characterisic that it lets you slide or grip thru turns, depending on how much weight u put on em. Young rippers would love these i reckon. Matches the Hellfire perfectly. Highly Recommend! I think for guys a bit heavier than me, the Machados would be the pick. hope this helps.cheers mac

Thx for the reply, I thought maybe the Dom being a lot shorter and lighter than the KP it may be a bit whippier. Good call on the Alt, il check it out thx

    Another Dom size Q 170lbs 6ft

Hi all, my first post here ! gonna pull the trigger on a Dominator and need some advice on size. I've looked thru many posts and they havent quite matched my stats. 50yrs old, advanced level, surfing 37yrs, fit, surf at least 3 times a week 77kgs or 171 ish lbs. Ive got too many boards but currently favouring my JS Kingpin 6ft 19 3/4 2/12 at 31.2 litres. Im after a bit more performance than the KP, and it will be used in waist to head high average beachies. The way I surf, I seem to really match roundtails. Also like eps boards in general, as im a lightfooted type surfer, and like the quick response of them. Was stuck between the 506 or the 508. The 508 is similar vol to the Kingpin, which often feels like too much foam, (nice to paddle though) but maybe the Dom being eps, it might feel more nimble at the same volume as the KP? Whereas the 506 is about 28.2 L , and my JS Blak Box is 28.6 L and I can paddle that ok. But maybe the design of the board I could go the 508. Wanna start trying a few airs and tail slides! Thx in advance....PS my Potato rules! its 506, I know ,way too big but still heaps of fun for tiny days, the lawns never get done anymore :)
