Its here!!
After many months of waiting for my Alternator, it has finally arrived. I have to say the wait has been worth it. This has to be one of Firewires more underrated boards! This board is super fast. Not sure if the the new Nanotune coat has something to do with it, but damn this board has speed to burn. Super stoked on the board, just bummed I missed most of the winter swells to really put this board through its paces. -
New Board
Aloha Guys,
Recently I put in for a 6 8 Alternator through Patrick at Hanalei surf on Kauai, Hawaii. For whatever reason, the board did not make it in the shipment. I put in the order in November, and the shipment arrived recently in early January. I realize Kauai is a small market, and Im sure you guys can make more money in other markets, but is it possible to order a board and get it here in a reasonable time? I own two Firewire boards, bought my son a firewire board and have referred several people to Hanalei Surf to buy Firewire boards. Needless to say, I am a big fan of your product. Is there a Hawaii rep that can get me either a 6 8 Alternator or a 6 9 Hellrazor? Going to Indo in June, so really would like to get a board before then.

Alternator to add to my quiver?
Aloha everyone,
47 years young, now down to around 208 lbs. Looking for another board to add to the quiver. Have my old faithful 6 4 RF Dominator and an FST 6 6 Hellfire. Been thinking about getting a 6 8 ALternator. Just wondering if the Hellfire and Alternator would be too much of an overlap? Would be using the ALternator for the overhead to double overhead good surf. Any thoughts? -
EPS drying tips?
Ok I can do basic board repairs. As long as its not fin boxes, but fixing Firewire boards seem so hard mostly due to the EPS foam sucking up water like a sponge. I have dried my board for two weeks, used napkins and gravity to suck up the moisture and put my board next to a dehumidifier, and the foam still has some moisture in it. Any advice please??? -
Hellfire as a quad
I have had my Hellfire for close to a year and rode it exclusively as a thruster. Never had the desire to try a quad set up. But today on the first early swell of the season at the bay, i decided to try it. The bay was the one wave where the Hellfire seemed to not click on. Being a fast down the line walling type of wave, I figured I give the quad a try. The board felt super fast and lose and didnt get hung up on turns like the thruster did out here. Thrusters want to pivot, and the wally waves of the bay dont allow much pivot turns. So stoked I finally "broke out of the box" Used pancho side fins and stretch back quad fins. Anybody have other suggestions for quads on a Hellfire? Been thinking about the Simon 4 fin since I really like the Simon thruster setup on my Hellfire (Futures) -
Futures?
Not sure if this is the right forum, but does anyone know if Futures can be ordered on an FST tech board? (Ex. Spitfire) Have tons of Future fins and I dont want to buy FCS! -
Sweet Potato test drive
Friend let me sample his 5 08 Potato. To be fair, the waves were really soft and hard to catch. Not used to riding a board this short. It seemed to paddle well, but so far not too sure about this board. Board actually felt really slow and didnt have zip I was expecting. The board has future Controllers on. Hopefully I can try it on some decent waves to get a feel of this board. -
New Volume Calculator
The new volume calculator is awesome!! Its a lot more accurate and takes in to account a persons age and fitness. To me that makes a more accurate calculator. A person also has to take into account the type of surf you ride. Living in Hawaii, I will always tend to get a board a little longer. Great job Firewire!! -
Damage to deck of Dominator (Rapidfire)
Aloha guys,
Recently I discovered a good sized ding on the deck of my board. It was in an area that is close to my tail pad and I guess i must have a had a few surfs nefore I even noticed it!! Anyway, I am pretty confident at fixing most dings, but how do you deal with the cracked bamboo? Do I just fill it like a normal ding , or do I have to cut out the bamboo that was smashed in??

PS I can attach a picture later if that helps -

New Models?
What kind of time frame are we looking at for the new Firewire models to hit the shops in Hawaii?? -
Pancho Signature Fins
Been riding Pancho Signature fins in my 6 6 Hellfire. These fins are perfect for the type of surf I ride the board in and for my weight. Currently around 215 pound. Experimented with the Simon Anderson Composites and found they work great also. Personally I feel the Hellfire likes the bigger fins. -
Upper limits of the Hellfire?
Yesterday i took my 6 6 Hellfire into some pretty solid surf at Hanalei Bay. Caught a couple solid waves that were around the 8 foot Hawaiian scale (About 15 foot face) Personally it felt like I was pushing the upper limits of this board, but with saying that, the Hellfire handled those freight trains fairly well. A good solid step up board with lower volume would have probably been better, but for everyone that is worried about the HF being too much like a hybrid to handle good waves, erase those thoughts!!! -
Thanks for the heads up Fritzkat. My friend called the guy and scored a great deal on a Hellfire!!!
