Swapped boards with a friend who's interested in a potatonator earlier this week.
He's a few kgs heavier than me and was on his 6'10" McCoy nugget (21" X 3" I believe) and he was doubtful my 6'2" would float him.
Sitting in the line up I wasn't sitting too much lower than him in the water.
He was thinking a 6'8" potatonator would be the ticket for him being used to the McCoy.
We swapped boards and he was amazed at A: how well the potatonator paddled and B: how well it floated him.
He was always taken aback at how loose it was.
Now he's thinking 6'4" will be fine as he had no trouble catching waves on my 6'2" but wants it for smaller waves and he'll ride his nugget when it's larger..
When you say MC do you mean Michael Cundith?
    If so which model?
MC doesn't mind volume but has lovely rails on his boards.
    Demo the 6'er.
49 yrs, 6'1", 92kgs. Surfing many moons grasshopper and I like plenty of foam. Potatonator 6'4" FST- Stretch or DVS quad fins, CI twin + trailer fin.

    Yep
Michael makes great boards, I have a 7.2 kingfish, 6.6 dart fish, 6.11 and 6.8 islander. All 3 " thick 23, 22, 21, 21". All keepers, my surfing has progressed with all these boards, looking to take another step. I still surf all the MC's and love em. Looking for a board to go faster and looser.

Hey Cuttle, I'm thinking of selling my 6'6 FST Pnator to fund another board for an OS trip if you mate is interested.

    Cheers

I'd definitely demo a 6.0 I know the boys at Currumbin have a 6.0 demo PN in FST so give it ago, I'm taller and weigh more than you and find my 6.0 is plenty of float. Had a great session at Snappers on Saturday PN laps it up

I haven't surfed a Potatonator, but do have a 6'4" Dom @90kg. I agree it can surf up to 1.5x overhead but below head high is its strong suit. I'm not sure how great a Potatonator at 6'2" would be at 4-5 foot Snapper. I reckon you'd be nursing your turns and spinning out bottom turns from time to time. With that wave range in mind at that location a 6'4" or even 6'6" Hellfire or similar is worthy of consideration.

Correction - at 83kg a 6'6" Hellfire would be too big. 6'2" to 6'4" max would be my suggestion. That board should amply cover from 2 foot to 6 foot. Below 2 foot you may need another board.

50young, thanks for the reply, I'm up to 98kgs at the moment, 6'2-6'4 I think would be right, I see stc67 has 6'6 for sale, but it looks like so much foam

Over Chrissy I wass up to 95.5kgs and rode and paDDLED my PN no trouble so I would think you are right on the mark with 6'2"-6'4" even the 6'4' is alot of foam, even at 115kg I was riding 47 litres and I only get to surf on the weekends so by no means paddle fit
