Buzzy, thanks. What do you mean "bugger all the difference"? Do you mean there's hardly any difference?
Yeah I meant 6' faces (I guess, I honestly don't know how to measure). Surfline had the report at 3-5 feet and I'm not sure if that's measuring from the back or if that's on the face. I know it wasn't 2-3 times overhead.

One thing i'm worried about too, is gaining weight, how hard is the 6'2" going to be to ride if I weigh 190lbs? I'm just not sure I can stay at 180 forever.

Yes, sorry, "bugger all" is Austrslian for "not much".
I wouldn't over think it. Each board will work. At 90kg (200 lbs) I use a 6'4" Dom. I find it ideal for small waves. If I wanted more of an all rounder I'd use the 6'2". Bear in mind I've been surfing for 30+ years and surf fairly regularly. As I see it after adjusting for your lesser experience and less frequent surfing either of those lengths would also be good for you.
Go the 6'4" on the deal and pick up a longboard. At the absolute worst in 12 months you'll say " I could do with a tiiiiiiny bit less volume", you'll trade in the Dom for the same price you bought it, and get a new one then.

Buzzy, good point, thanks. I talked to a guy at the shop who also said that switching the fins out can also make some difference.
I was thinking more of a fish for really small days, unless that's going to be too difficult for me.

have u thought about trying a different board? if the shop has demos, then just keep going till u find the one that always has that "sweet spot" when u get up. too many variables to get hung up on one type of shape.

Thanks all,
FokaiHI, good suggestion, I have tried some other boards. The Dom is definitely where I'm at right now.
I ended up buying the 6'4" from Clairemont Surf Shop. It was used, but the price was right, 330 with a stomp pad and fins, can't beat it. Yes, I could probably have done the 6'2", but this will work for 6 months to a year and like buzzy said, I can just sell it later and find my next board. For now, this will help me learn and continue to grow. Let the adventure continue!

sounds like a good call. u can only have fun if ur not watching everyone else catch waves. i'll take wave count over the less volume any day.
