Thread: MB pro model

    MB pro model

    Hi Nev

I see that the MB board is finally out. Can't wait to order one. Quick question though. The 6'4" is 2 3/4 thick which is a lot more than what I am used to(more used to 2 1/2). I do not think I will mind the thickness as long as it is located in the center of the board and that the rails are not to beefy. I'm 92kg and 6'3".

Would you compare the rails with the Flexfire 6'4 or are they way thicker?

hey norberg, the volume IS towards the middle of the board and the rails are designed with performance in mind! Keep in mind, the longer lengths of this model are stepped up versions of Michel's board. as a result, the board works insane and you won't find yourself fighting the volume or shape of the rails. They'll be working with you!!!

    cheers!

    Hey Chris

I wasn't sure to ask you or Nev this question so that is why I posted this thread twice on your forum. To make it easier, lets stick to this one then so you don't have to answer twice:-) Thanks for the great feedback and I am getting closer to deciding on the right board.

I am currently loving the 6'2 quadra-5 and looking for more of an allrounder with a touch more volume, but with more refined rails than the spitfire. Would you compare it to the Futura or more like the spitfire?

Also, can the board be ordered through the norwegian rep now or is there a waiting period for them?

Finally, for my weight and hight, would you pick a 6'2 or a 6'4 for more quality waves?

Lots of question here, but really appreciate all the info I can get as I will not be able to have a feel of the board before ordring

Just to add the information to this thread, Chris posted in another thread that they will be releasing thinner versions of the MB model later in the year with specs hopefully coming this week.
Not sure how much thinner to expect, but I'd like to see maybe 0.18" - 0.25" off each for us lanky guys.

That sound absolutely perfect. I want that one then:-) Will wait and see what Chris comes up with. Just feel that the 2 3/4 might be a bit thick for me.

    Cheers,

Hey noreberg...The 602 Quadra 5 is 31.6 liters and the MB 602 that is 2 11/16" is 32.4. It is narrower but a little thicker.. Considering all that has been discused with the guys above I would stay with the 602 x 19 x 2 11/16. It will float you better than the Quadra 5 but be more high performance / tighter in the pocket for those sick Norweigen pits you guys revel in!!

    Hey Nev

    Thanks for the feedback:-)
Due to my weight(92KG), I am supposed to have more volume in the board than the quadra-5, but it still works really good in smaller waves. However, I feel that the volume isn't enough in more hollow breaks like Indo f.ex and that it feels a bit to loose for those conditions.

I was therfore thinking that i should go for the 6'4 due to the volume and that I would get a longer railline, which should make the board hold in better in everything above headhigh. However, I was bit hestitant in regards to going as thick as 2 3/4. As I will not be able to check out the board before ordering, it would be great to know what board in the line I could compare the railvolume too.

Sorry for all the questions, but have ordered boards earlier from other brands which are not working at all. Firewire's have always been great so really need to pick the right size now.

Do you still reckon that I should go for the 6'2?

Really appreciate all your feedback guys, cheers:-)

That 6'0" x 18.75" x 2.38" is my dims all over. I think the volumes need updating compared to the thicker dims though! I'm a little bit gutted that it's going to be so similar to my CBD board else I'd be pre-ordered up by now!
