    I have been doing a few HP hellrazors, like the one for Felip which is 508 x 18 1/2 x 2 1/4
the 5'10 of this would extrapolate up to 18 7/8 x 2 5/16"...Too many variable mate. It would work in dimensons as you suggest

Cheers Nev and would you say the hz is of a similar performance level to the alt? Or more hp?

I also know the hellrazor is more refined towards a shortboard etc but whats the main difference between these two boards regarding wave type, size and performance (not referring to paddling into waves, more thinking of drive/release/looseness/hold/ tight surfing etc)...

    Please help me choose!!

    Hey Magnet and Waldo...

The Hellrazor is more high performance than the Hellfire due to the fact that I morphed the Hellfire up in length keeping the volume similar. This means the board has all the amazing charachteristics of the Hellfire but has more rail to work with, a touch more rocker and slightly less nose and tail...I see it as this the Hellfire handles 4 to 6ft well..The Hellrazor handles 4 to 6ft PLUS better. You know those PLUS days...Not big enough for a step up but you do need a more sensitive board to carve with confidence.
The Hellrazor is a more allround board. The Hellfire can be too but, at times, you may be wishing you had the Hellfire. When it is smaller the Hellrazor still goes insane hence you don't REALLY need a Hellfire...More for those who get by with just one board.

Using the 6'0 Alternator and the 6'0 Hellrazor as examples, I would argue that the Hellrazor would be the board of choice from the same length Alternator, this from a high performance perspective...But there is a 2L difference in volume which must be taken into consideration. The Hell Razor is a bit wider in outline, thinner in foil, thicker in the tail and over all has 2L less volume. If the Alternater is your volume you may have to go up in length. If you don't want to do that then the Alt is your board.

Or is the idea to ride them thinner? I like the dims of the 5'11" but I haven't ridden a board at 2.25" since I was in my very early 20s.

Obviously you've got a tiny bit of a better idea on the design of the board than me (only just haha) so there's probably a good reason for the reduced thickness but it seems a little out of sync with the other boards in the same volume/size range with other models.
I totally agree with you PRJ, but I'd actually go one step further and boost them up by 1/8. The 5'11 x 19 1/4 x 2 1/4 27.2L would be absolutely perfect at 2 3/8. I am figuring this would boost up the volume to ~ 28.5Ls?

Help please guys, need to make a decision between the two! seems a lot of other people do aswell!

I'm 35 185lbs and i want a board to fit in between my 5.8 dom and 6.3 flex, mainly to go to when it's too big for the dom (anything over head+) and too messy (pretty much all the time) for the 6.3 flex. When its big and messy i struggle on the dom for 2 reasons; 1. because its so short it seems to bounce around under me on take off when i'm in big storm waves + 2. it has a big fat arse! and likes to slide out on a bottom turn, plently of times i've slid down a face sideways LOL!

but i dont know if i want to retain more dominator characteristics to my board (because i think the dom is the best board in the world!!!) and go for the hellfire or go for the hellrazor and get more lengh to help me with takeoff, but worry that the hellrazor is too close to the flexfire.

    What do you guys think?

Agreed with the fact the the dominator packs some "junk in the trunk", have you tried different fins??
Now it seems that you really like the feeling of the dominator under your feet. There is a thread where Nev explains the best thing to do when surf is messy:

[B]Yep!! Surley did add weight to Taj's boards during Bells the year he won in 2007. His boards were too light at 2.250g and were a bit skittery off the top. The team engineered an aluminum capsule about 40mm in dia and I flew down that night, drill and hole saw in hand. Next day we videoed him at bird rock to see the problem, and then I drilled a hole in the deck of his board about 200mm from the nose...Right through with a hole cutter! He was freaking!... Anyway I added slivers of lead until the board weighed 2400g which created extra "swing weight" in the nose of his board eliminating chatter off the top and enhancing hold and directional stability through turns. He was blown away how much better it went and went on to win his first Bell!
So...What does this mean to you? The simplest way to "stabilize" your board in choppy conditions is to "add weight" in the nose area. The best way to do this is go to the local golf shop and buy some lead tape used to weight up shafts and or club heads. Then stick this on in the nose area between about 200 to 400mm from the nose. Even if you gaffa tape over the lead strips to hold it in place. Add between 100 and 200g and you will notice the difference for sure./B]

Now between the two boards I would go for the 6'1" Hellrazor.

Yep, tried the MR twin fins in front and KS 2.1's in the rear as recomended on here but i didnt like it, made it too stiff and the dom works so well for me at that size because i can throw it about so much as its so twitchy and turns on a dime, thats what makes it a magic board for me, as soon as it stiffens up it loses it's magic for me.

The 6.1 hellrazor was what i was looking at, just didnt want it to be too far from the dom and too close to the flexfire, if the hellrazor can be riden in 2.5ft plus then i might sell the flexfire as i never get to use it enough and the hellrazor should have my range covered, i do like thin tails like on the futura so i'm looking forward to seeing a hellrazor next week to see if has as thin a tail as it looks!
