My usual thing is to take both boards to the beach. There's some over-lap but they are still very different rides. The potatonator is much closer to a dominator in it's dna.
So I pick the sweet potato for high tide waves and the potatonator for low-er tide or peaky surf.
I aim for diversity in my quiver.
The Firewires form the small stuff end of the quiver.

Cuttle, thanks for the info, possibly looking at a pnator at the mo, as a replacement for the sweet p,as my small wave go to board , but im going to persist with the sweet p in the tiny stuff for a while and try some different stuff, see how it goes. on the topic of future elevons, i see they are avail in two sizes small and large rears, but i cant seem to find specs on them, you dont happen to know the size diff between the two?

Had my third surf today. 2-3ft faces of pre high tide weak swell Very full until it hit the reef..then it sucked up hard..the type of wave where it gets that little lip break on top then it quickly fades out. If you can catch that little lip it gives you some momentum to get over the edge. The PN was perfect for this today. It just flew down the line and I do need larger fins for more hold. It is more performance orientated with a dash of retro which I am liking....I'll leave the performance (my version of performance) to the Futura.
There was only 3 of us out so I got heaps of waves in one hour to the point where I got abused by one of the guys.....I had the surfing kavorka (see Seinfeld) every time I paddled out again a wave would just come my way no matter where I paddled. It really pays to have the right equipment on these days.

Sounds like we are all having a lot of fun on this board.
I must be the only one running a thruster set up on it by the sounds of it.
Which is all arse about face because I don't have any other boards I ride as a thruster,
There's another low formed off the coast and so it looks like more swell to hit the East coast over the next few days.
What fins are you running in yours Goanna?

Mate, I'm also runnings as a thruster because I sold the quads with the SP. I'm using PC3 but desperate to try some different setups. This week I found out my daughter needs braces and I need to get my right ear operated on AGAIN (surfer's ear) so I guess the fins will need to wait!
