I guess you get a good score for doing the same turn over and over again. The Spartans wave had way more diversity of moves.

Not that I am participating in FS or anything but my money is on Slater to take the comp at this point, he always talks about trying not to peak to early and he is doing just that. So far he has won all his heats but he is yet to blow up, I reckon he is saving it for the quarters and beyond. Keeping an eye on parko too though, he is really surfing great right now, it was a shame to see julian out of the comp after what he did yesterday but someone has to lose!

Didn't Slater get 120 out of 10 for his first wave? And 180 out of 20 for his first heat score?

I was watching that Pupo heat and that was a toughy. No doubt he got the better waves but he really didn't seem to do much with them. 3 floaters and a few backhand snaps way out on the face. His 'vertical' hits were at 10 o'lock, not 12 o'clock. By contrast Ace got lesser waves but, in my opinion, surfed them much better. I thought the heat was about even all things considered, which is pretty much where it ended up. I think Ace was overscored on the last one, but maybe by half a point. I frankly hoped that Ace got through because (a) I'm an Aussie and (b) I honestly felt that Pupo's surfing didn't deserve to reach the quarters. He's just surfing, imho, at a lesser level than everyone else who got through.

    Quiksilver Call status:
"Waiting for tide to push. Next call in -1 hours."???
what is going on with the call right now, they simply are not updating it or what? did they forget to let the thousands of people world wide know that the event is off for the day or something?

The website seemed to crash. The event didn't proceed today but there's a good chance it will tomorrow.

I still can't believe they gave Parko a ten
I think the judges will hand him the trophy this year

To be fair that was one of the best waves ridden in the event. I don't know if it was a 10 but it was pretty sweet even if it was kind of little.

Yeah, it was probably a 9 point something, but either way it killed Wilson's hope of beating Parko that heat.
