thanks guys. this helps. i think i'm leaning toward the spit because my local break is really unpredictable. it might look like 2-3' mush and then next thing you know you've got a jacked up 5' top to bottom section. i feel like i'd go dom if i knew it was going to always be mush but the spit will let me be ready for those changes and not having me running back to my truck to switch boards as often. it's settled 6'4" SPITFIRE to go with my 6'8" ALT. thanks everyone!

    stoked!

    scott, good work and enjoy.

Just for the benefit of anyone else reading the thread I just thought I should say that I don't find the Dom to be a mush board. Indeed, I reckon the El Fuego, for instance, would be a better mush board. I find the Dom goes best in small to mid size waves with a bit of push. It handles hollow fine. That's not to suggest that the Spit might not offer a tighter arc as others have said. But the Dom definitely handles hollow conditions.

Buzzy, anychance are you considering a 6-7 Hellrazor to replace your 6-8 Alternator?

I hadn't thought about it until now - I'll look into it.

I just had a look into it, to the extent I could. There really doesn't seem to be much between the boards to be honest. Maybe the Hellrazor at 6'7" would be a slightly more hybrid version of the Alt at 6'6" in that it seems to carry just a tad more width, but there's no 6'7" Hellrazor on board compare so I can't...well, you know...compare! ;)

I'm now considering it in the ever expanding list of possibilities!

    I'd have to agree
The round tail of the Dom really allows for smooth transitions in your turns especially in waves that tend to have weaker lips
My Hellfire sometimes gets a bit stuck whereas the Dom has that flow about it
In the juice it's a different story but I wouldn't be riding the Dom

Ive had the Dominator in solid 12ft faced waved and its gone great, a bit loose but you'll get the same feeling in a SF - always prefered it as a thruster. Go Dom.

Well I'm stoked with my new Spit. It turns tighter and faster than the dom but yes the dom still has a very nice feel about it. Yes the transitions from rail to rail are smooth whereas the transitions on the spit are fast but still fluid and given I've only surfed the spit in mush it seems to handle it as well as the dom.
