Nope, out of the comp due to an injury (sliced his foot free surfing). That opened my fantasy surfer team for new additions.

PRJ all about markets and where there is more money coming from the presenting sponsors. Way more people in Brazil and Billabong may have been able to sell the presenting sponsor position for 2-3 dollars.

In the end, I am willing to bet that it cost Billabong much more to run in JBay with less potential return.

But from a viewers perspective, I completely agree.

Yeah sucks that the World Championship Tour comes down to board short and tshirt sales over putting the best surfers in the best waves.
    Bring back Rabbit!

I know it's mostly the economy's fault, just sucks.

yeah it is all about money. funny thing is people get miffed when the tour changes, but what would happen if the ASP started charging for their webcasts? there would be massive uproar. I feel relatively fortunate that we are able to log on for free and watch guys surf waves all over the world. Keep in mind, we are going to see Fiji live (so long as there are no issues) which i am pumped for!

Yeah. I'd be happy to pay to watch the webcasts if they were in top locations and had long enough waiting periods to hold in good to excellent conditions always.
Watching a contest in good waves is worth $10 to me, easy.

Yeah $10 per contest would be fair. Again only in good waves.
Surfing has so many variables though it's tricky.

A trial of the Rebel Tour would be interesting to see...
