It definitely was a drastic change from my 5'10" DM to a 5'10" MB but 25-30 lbs lighter in weight was drastic as well (i.e. 195-200 lbs down to 168lbs). So my first session I was a bit worried on not having enough volume.....but after my second session all is good. The board is super responsive. Not to mention paddling back out from the inside through clean up sets is actually easier......so paddling with less volume was actually easier.....does that make any sense? So basically I'm super stoked on this board!
Just wondering where'd you pick up this board and how much?

Yeah posts from new users aren't displayed until they've been approved to keep out the spambots.

Chris, could be worth adding a banner at the top telling new users that their posts won't be displayed right away and to hang tight? There's been a couple of people who have posted dupe threads or posts in the past because they don't think they are being submitted right. Would make things clearer if there was a notice!

I bought it at the RipCurl store. HIC sells them. SurfGarage. DriftSurf as well. The RipCurl store has a 6'0" or they had one a few days ago. Hope that helps.

Howzit Bong O Bong, i'm about the same specs as you, 5'9 170lbs. i'm looking at the 5'10 thinner version at surfgarage. i'm just worried that i'm going to have to work my ass off paddling the thing around...what do you think now that you've run the thicker version for a few weeks. hopefully some surf sticks around in town for the next few days...chee hoo!

Others in this forum --- please feel free to chime in with your opinions!! i posted basically the same thing in another thread but i asked the question specifically to chris, not sure why, and i am missing out on valuable insight from you guys that are in the know. mahaloz & aloha

I think the thinner 510 may be a little small at 170
