Thread: Lost Minnie Drivers have arrived!

  1. #41
    Hey Chris,
Where can I find a 6'4" Mini in FCS to feel up in the San Diego area? Im going to Indo in Oct, and am thinking I might really like the Mini because I ride a 6'4" FW Stealth most days around here. Surfride has a few but I think they are all futures. Do all of the first round of MD's have Futures fin boxes?

I have the same situation. Have a Stealth, thinking about MD. I haven't been able to see a MD up close. At the same length the 6'0 Stealth volume and width are exactly the same as the MD. Obviously tail etc etc are different. Are those boards too similar to have in the same quiver??

hey spjones, i would say the answer depends a bit on what else you have in your quiver. I think the stealth you actually get a slightly more rockered board. It will ride a little more like a progressive shortboard while the MD is kind of designed to ride like a stubby step up. Not really a proper step up, but a shortboard that is pressed into a bit of a shorter length...

If you have other holes filled, there is definitely room for both as they are pretty different, but if you are hoping for them to be dramatically different, i don't think t hat will be the case.

    Cheers

Hey Chris, can you starte a "Lost Mini Driver" forum category? I'd like to see/encourage some ride reports. Thanks in advance. ~csarqui.

Yeah, I'm keen to follow the feedback on the mini driver myself. It looks like a great shape, but I don't have a clear handle on how it surfs and which waves it suits best.

From what I'm read on Mayhem's blog etc it was meant to be a shorter board to surf in good barrelling waves. But a lot of team riders have been using it as an all rounder in average waves and even as a semi groveller. Sounds like it's going to go well in anything with a bit of shape and steepness to it, right down to waist high stuff and up to way over head barrels if you've got the ability to get into those waves on a small board I guess.

I'll post some feedback on mine when I get it but it's not going to be for another 10 weeks or so at least I reckon.

Hey Chris, on the quiver section of the webpage would you say the pic of the MD is an accurate representation? Something about it looks a little out of proportion to me.

think it might be the LOST... logo that makes it look at bit weird? It should have been a bit further down, about the same place as the Firewire logo.
