Hey guys I'm not sure which board I should take. I'm 183cm, 73kg an
intermediate to advanced surfer. I can do Bottom- Topturns, Cutbacks,
Floaters, tubes and sometimes snaps. My standard shortboard is 6'4" x 18
3/4" x 2 3/8" single concave, squash tail. I surfed it in up to 11ft
face waves in France. Feels good in bigger more powerfull waves but kind
of too chunky / reacting to slow in small / powerless waves. For
example if I go for a bottom turn and once I'm coming back up the face I
have to use to much body rotation for my feeling to make it go up the
face of the wave. In powerless waves it just gets too slow and sometimes
the inside rail gets struck in the face because the board looses to
much speed. Don't know how to describe it more precisely sorry for my
bad english.
I'm looking for a board for 1-4ft waves and wanted to try the sub scorcher.
Due to the flood in thailand, not all sizes are available because they can't ship them.
I
could go for a 5'8" with future fins or 5'10" with fcs. All my boards
have FCS so I'm not sure wether to give a try for a new fin system or go
for the 5'10 which might be a bit too big for me.
What do you guys think? I really appreciate any answers:)
Thank you
mannn 508 all the way!! I am heavier than you an I do well on the 508...
Just picked the 5'10" wanted to stick with fcs. The 5'8" is just 1,5l volume less the tail is completely the same so the different volume comes just from the nose area and the thickness.
Gonna maybe pack up another 5kg of muscels and normally surf the netherlands in winter with a 5/3, booties, gloves, hood etc so a bit more floatation for easier paddeling could be nice.
Got some K2.1 fins and maybe go for an AM2 Centerfin. Gonna try the board tomorrow lets see how it goes:)
