    Hey Mark, my catch phrase is actually "El Fuego." Like for example if I have a discussion with friends about what we are going to do later that night and someone comes up with a really good idea that everyone agrees with, I will then stand up and exclaim "EL FUEGO." I am kind of bummed you guys are taking that from me....

    that's okay, we don't mind sharing it with you...............

    And thanks for all the forum contributions from everyone regarding suggested names for the 'X' factor. We've decided to go with the 'Sweet Potato'. its got a fun ring to it and somewhat descriptive. Hope everyone is okay with that.

    sweet potatoes do carry more antioxidants and nutritional value than the likes of other tubers like yukon golds for example. That is a tune we can all sing along to.

    I really look forward to seeing the el fuego. I'd like to ask who designed the shape and what kind of bottom contours it sports. Thanks

    Nev designed the board and it has a shallow single concave as do most of our boards. with the added performance of the flex during turns, we don't think that FW's need aggressive bottom contours to enhance performance.

    Thanks for the info Mark...When should Hawaii be seeing them in the showrooms? Mahalo

    They'll be hitting accounts all over the country, HI included, starting in about a week's time and all throughout March. We've got a ton of demand already, so be sure to call up your shop and let them know you are after them so they get the orders in.

    The El Fuego gets fried...!

    I passed on a 6'1" Firefly a couple of weeks ago because I thought I could just wait and buy one later.. but once I heard you'd be changing the name to El Fuego I confirmed the shop still had the Firefly and picked it up the very next day.....

    Board is super light and looks and feels perfect for my 200#'s. Hasn't been waxed yet... They had a 5'11" and 6'3" so I got to compare and feel them too.

    The name El Fuego didn't do it for me. People are always asking me about my boards and it's hard to think of saying "It's an El Feugo." Hardly matters right? But it's the little things, even as psychologically trivial as not liking the name of your board, that will, for me anyway, change my perception of it, and the way it's ridden, cared for, surfed, etc, etc... And that would compromise my surfing, and if I wanted to do that, I'd buy a PU that would fall apart just looking at it... ha ha...

    Hi Mark, just wondering when the firefly is being released in aus and what about the deviant fin and whos riding with the fin and whats the latest feed back?

  • markpmarkp March 2010

    Firefly should be in Australia within the next few weeks, early April latest.

    Chuy and I have ridden the fin extensively (Chuy took it to Hawaii this past winter and to Tavi, plus on the recent Mex trip). About 10 other friends of ours have ridden it and in all cases the feedback was really good.

    We're finalizing the exact composite that works best and should have them in the market by early May. Its taken us longer than we hoped to get the right blend of strength and light weight.

    I'm still thinking my new funds might go towards my buddy's 5'8" Dominator if the price is right. That way I can ride it for a few weeks and compare it to my 5'10" Dom. Then I can decided which to keep. But... The "El Fuego Firefly" is all too tempting right now ;)

    @kiteboarder

    I pulled the trigger on a 6'1 El Fuego Diamond Tail from Surf Ride today and I am picking it up tomorrow. I also saw them (an origianl Firefly batch) at Jack's Surf Shop in HB, but I wanted the diamond tail and I could only find them at Surf Ride. I will take pictures and share soon. Stoked!
