Hey crew...Here are some happy snaps of the journey finals day.

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun was had by all, how proud I am of Taj, and the whole Firewire team from management to designers, to Thai factory staff, to reps / partners, forum contributors and supporting retailers worldwide
We are all so tight and so STOKED, which is why Firewire is nailing it and enabling surfers worldwide to love their surfing more and more.

Photos of proud Vance and Nance in the competitors area post semis, one to go!
(You know, they have not been fortunate enough to time being with Taj on one of his many wins, since he was 12!!! They got it right this time!)

Other photos, some weirdo ginger groupie, Steds and the boys stoked, John Gannon his trainer with Derek O'Neil CEO of Billabong, and Vance and Nance at the crazy Stab Von Zipper pool party at Luke Egans new "Komune" hotel deal.

A couple of times during this comp I heard Taj talk about getting some good boards or working on some good boards. Without giving away any competitive advantage, can you guys comment on any changes he has made to his boards and if you plan on working them into your retail models?

On a side note, is Bourez making any mods to his FW boards?

    auburnham,
nev basically has a few voodoo-esque words he chants while dancing around Taj's board then he sprinkles a few of Firewire's proprietary spices on the deck and runs a small electrical current through the finboxes. That is all I can say, infact, I have probably said too much.

    Hope that clears things up.....

sorry i couldn't pass up the chance to act like an idiot. In reality, they work on the internal structure of Taj's boards to alter the flex patterns and the board's response. The current Taj pro model is the FST technology with an added springer to stiffen response and you can bet that that boys tirelessly work on the next best thing. So...like a new iPhone or the next episode of Lost on ABC, the final result is shrouded until it is ready.

Taj has been riding the same shape for a few years now. He knows that board so dam well, and it shows. His design is such a highly tweaked combination of extremes. He rides more bottom curve (nose to tail) and more outline than any other on tour. We tried playing with increasing nose and tail area to kinda see if the push for area on tour was warranted for Taj. NOPE....Internally we plated with some flex dampening structures to give more resistance under front foot. Liked it to a degree, but alas his favorite board that he won at Snapper on was ...Same as it ever was...Taj is dialed... Not need to tinker when it is right is what we learn’t over the past 6 months. We will continue to try things that others can’t even begin to consider due to our unique CAD / CAM engineered construction process that is truly unique.
What Taj is riding is what we all can ride in the Firewire range. If you smash it and are built like Teebs, then the TJ5’11 is for you...If you are not, choose the right shape and go for it...
