    Hi all.

Just received my new 5'11 Taj. This board is so sweet. I will give a review once I get to use it next week in Barbados.

My initial thoughts are this board is gonna rock. So much more going on than the traditional composite type kite surfboards. Just looks so nice from all angles. Insane!

Second, I had a few questions regarding the insert screws and Felix personally emailed me to answer them. How sweet is that? Nothing beats a Pro rider emailing you to offer expert advice!

Anyway, can't wait to try the board. Thanks Felix for the help!

ok guys, finally got the season going here in NJ and managed some time with the 5'11. A little background first. I have had many kite surfboards. Most of them were from kite companies like Naish or Slingshot, so I am used to a little smaller board (5'4-5'7). I ride hooked and strapped most of the time. Unstrapped in lighter wind.

I was eager to get some downwinders in on the Firewire. The first thing I noticed was the performance in the pocket or "snapiness". The other surf kiteboards I have used would redline at a certain point, meaning I felt like I had to lay off a carve at somepoint or I would bail. Not the Firewire. This board would go anywhere on the wave and just respond. I felt like anything was possible on it. It carves like a dream. Top turns, bottom turns, floaters, etc. All simply magical. I just loved the springy feeling of the board, especially coming out of turns. Just so much more lively than my other boards. It felt more like a high performance PU surfboard than a kiteboard.

The board went upwind pretty well, considering it flexes more than a hard composite type board. Definitely worth the tradeoff in responsiveness vs. upwind ability. Don't get me wrong, going upwind is not hard by any stretch, it just requires slightly more technique than a harder/stiffer board. I found moving my back foot up in the middle of the board works wonders and went upwind easily.

The few session I had, I was riding backside. Looking forward to spending sometime frontside on this puppy.

Bottom line: Definitely the best performing surf kiteboard I have ever used, bar none. Butter smooth turns anywhere on the wave. This board oozes confidence and your riding will improve on it, as a result.

    More to come.

Hey Hyper, happy to hear you're tripping on the board. Do you know why they work so wel??? Becuase they're surboard beefed up for kiteboarding. What works better for surfing than a surfboard???. And basically while kiting on waves you're basically laying your kite up and surfing, only using it for some speed when needed!!!!
    Post some pics if available

No pixs yet. Some will be coming soon, once the water warms up above 50! That is exactly why I bought a Firewire. Because I figured who makes a better surfboard than a established and proven surfboard company? I think some of the kiteboard companies shapes are suspect. I like the idea of tried and true surfboard designs. Plus, the whole FW construction, makes it a no brainer for me.

Any plans for FW to introduce a smaller board (5'6" or so) for powered up riding?

    Thanks,

    Scott
