    Hello

I’m thinking about buying a FW Taj 5,11. But I’m not quite sure if the board might be a bit too small for me.
The board is perfect for my 75 kg. plus for the wind and the size of waves that I ride.
You guys were nice to help me out and recommended the Taj 5,11. But you are riding in Hawaii or California where the waves are a lot faster than in the north sea (Denmark) where I live. – So my question is; do you think the Taj 5,11 is the right board for me, when the waves I ride are quite slow?

No, I would probably go with the 5'8" Dominator...our new lineup board...it is a 5 fin model so you will have the option to go with a quad or tri setup. It will be great for mushy surf, but still excel in faster waves if you get the conditions.

    Hi

They waves I’m riding are not mushy but pretty clean and long, they are just slow and not that steep.
I think 5,8 is too wide when the waves are more than 3 meters.
The board I’m currently riding is a Resin8 Tokoro
    Dimensions: 6’0 1/2" 18 3/8" by 2 1/4"
    Shape: Round Pin Tail
    Width: Tail 14" Nose 11 1/8"
    Rocker: Tail 2 13/16" Nose 4 13/16"
Description: Curvy outline, pulled in at the tail, no bump near fins
fullish tucked rails, nice hidden thickness. Single to deep pronounced double barrel concave, slight forward V up in the last 14 inches of the nose.
I like the shape of the board. But the thing is that it is a paddle board, so it breaks easily when used for kiting. – And then I would like to try the FW to see if it is a better board. ☺

The dominator still would work well. It may be wide, but it is a loose and very short board with lots of float to get you through the flat and slow sections.

The 5'10" taj is also an amazing board. That is my favorite all around high performance board. It works well in everything, but excels in not so mushy conditions.

If I were you, I would try the dominator. With the 5 fin option, you can go thruster for a more rail to rail feel or the quad setup for more down the line mushy surf.

    Hi
Would the 6`2" be better in bigger surf than the Dominator?
Are there any demo boards in the Container you are sending to south Africa?

    Boris:-)
  6.
Not sure on Demos...but there might be. Well have to see if the local rep down there can answer that. 6'2" is probably better for big surf for sure.

It all depends on riding style as well. 5 11 or 6 2 works well. Some people can make a 5 8 work well...but the 6 2 definately is great for big surf.

    Hi guys
Felix Pivic writes on the kiteforum that the new FW boards that are comming out have a better strength than the old ones.
Do any of you know if the new FW boards that are being shipped to Cape Town around this month are the ones with the better strength?
    Thanks a lot!
    Boris

All new boards shipped worldwide will have the new strength characteristics! They should be in Cape Town by end of year at latest...prob early Dec.

    Boris,

One other factor to consider when selecting a board is are you riding primarily strapped or strapless? With bigger wave's strapped, board size is less of an issue. If you want a real solid stable feel for large surf strapless, the 6'2" is a great call. If your out day to day in overhead or less, then the Taj 5''11" or Dom 5'8" would certainly do the trick strapless or in any size surf strapped. While shorter, the Dominator will give you a more floaty feel due to the width and overall volume. All of these boards are designed really well and will carry you through your turns. Hope this helps and thanks for the interest!

    Hey Boris,

The boards are now finally available in South Africa. I'm on the East Coast and unfortunately not in Cape Town, but if you're in the area anytime please give me a shout to set up some demo time or to make a purchase.

No Dominators in this shipment though.
