I bought a 6'2 last year. It is the best kiteboard I've ever ridden, especially carving on the waves.

But... it is in the shop a lot. I clipped a coral head and it ripped the whole fin box out. And recently I put about a 3 inch hole in the deck after landing a jump. The shop said the whole deck is feeling soft from not being strong enough to withstand the beating of kiting. (I ride w/ straps and do jump.) This does not happen with any other kite boards I own. (That said, they also don't ride as well as this one.)

Have you guys considered strengthening the boards with thicker decks? Or have you already done so since last year's models? I noticed that the new boards now come with Futures fins, which I suspect could help with the fin box rip-out issue.

Thanks. I am a big fan.

Hey KC, thanks for posting. The new boards all come with futures. Trial and error, there has been a lot of great feedback such as yours and the 2011 boards are reinforced much stronger to withstand strapped riding. With that, the technology is the same as every FW board, but there has been changes within the deck to strengthen. New shipments scheduled to arrive this week and in the coming weeks worldwide. Keep charging.

    KC,

Have to agree with the Belts on this one. The new boards are much stronger that what was out last year. Been beating on them heavily and they are rock solid. But with any board, if your boosting strapped, they can get damaged if your landing hot. Still these are the best ride in the business. Try the 5'11" Taj if you get a chance, so sick! Thanks for the note and good kiting to you!
