"We believe that refinements to the shape of today's modern surfboard can only produce incremental performance benefits"

"Exponential improvements in performance can only be achieved through new materials and construction methods which in turn will open up new design opportunities"

    Hi.
I'd appreciate any feedback on a burning issue for me. I'm desperate to have a quiver i can both surf and kite with the minimum compromise. I've been interested in Firewire for a while but have been worried about the construction for kiting until recently.
    I'm 6 ft/ 85 kg and quite fit.I'm an experienced intermediate surfer and a decent wavekiter. I surf a 6'5 x19 1/4 x 2 3/8 and kite a Naish 6' custom global wave.
I'm thinking of getting a 5'6 sweet potato for junk surf and lightwind strapless kiting (planning to lay some carbon under deck pads and treat it well - i'm pretty sold on this idea!) and would like a step up board for good surf and kitesurfing.
My concern is that looking at your board selector i'd be undercooking the qaud by 6" and the flexfire by 2".
I've noticed Felix's comments about paddleability of these boards for my size but really don't want too go to short. The last time i did that my wave count + enjoyment really suffered.
So I guess my questions are:
    1. Are either the flexfire or quadraflex really suitable for my needs
    2. Which is best?
    3. Do you think the SP will perform well for my purposes.

    Thanks for the help
    Pete

    Hey Pete,

You may want to consider the 5'8" Dominator that's ready to go for kiting vs. the sweet spud. I'm around 75kg and was surprised to find I could catch waves and surf this hybrid easier than my 6'3" traditional board. It's an awesome light wind machine as well with amazing upwind capability in the quad configuration. For the step up, the KQF600S quad should be fine for your height/weight. My buddy is a couple inches taller and wider than you and he surfs and kites this board with ease.

Hope this helps and thanks for the interest!
