    Hello,

Just came across Firewire boards, and trying to decide between an Ocean Rodeo 5'11", a Slingshot Tyrant 6'1", and now the 5'11" Taj board.
I'm 183cm, 68kg, and mostly using it in wind swell, and the Oregon coast, both strapless and strapped. I'm no expert, but am decent.
Presently using an older Naish Fish, 5'8", but my teeth chatter in chop, and wanted to try something different, less floaty.
Any words of wisdom on why to get the Firewire. It will be more expensive for me, but happy to be convinced if you think it's worth it. Unfortunately I cannot demo them.
    Thanks a lot.

    George,

Can't speak for two of the boards you mention, but, I'm 178cm and 85kg and have the 6' quadra 5 and the 5'11 taj. I love the taj and if I was under 80kg it would be my sole board. Rides brilliantly, handles chop, strong winds and any sort of waves you want. very responsive and a joy under your feet. Looks great and has proper heritage. Doubt you would be dissappointed at all in it.

    George,

At weight I'd suggest the 5'11" Taj. That board is amazing and as Mike mentioned, doubt you would be disappointed. Where on the Oregon coast are you? Possible we could get together. I'll be there late Sept.

    Cheers,

    -Brian

Thanks for the replies. Brian, I'm in BC, but travel to Oregon, and sorry, cannot predict the next trip, but hope it will be in the 2nd half of Sept. I'll let you know.

The Taj is now at the top of my list. I've read that Firewire will be coming out with lighter and more durable boards for 2012. Any comments on this, or just urban myth?

    Thanks very much.

Keep me in the loop on OR George as I may be around the central OR coast area 3rd/4th week of Sept.

Won't go wrong with that KTJ511 (Taj).

We haven't had a single report of durability issues with any kite model of the latest board builds. Many companies wait to improve models with new year releases. We continually process rider input and incrementally improve on our designs regardless of the time of year. It's not a 2012 thing, it's a FireWire thing.

Thanks for the interest George and good wind/waves to you.
