"Exponential improvements in performance can only be achieved through new materials and construction methods which in turn will open up new design opportunities"

I'm 210 lbs and have been riding a 5-9 El Fuego 3-5x/week at the Gorge/OR Coast, mostly 8m with some 6m and 12m days. Love the speed/glide and snap. Looking for a board that sticks to the water better in high winds (25+) and big choppy waves. I really like wide flat quads that fly upwind and glide through holes with a smaller kite that you can shut off on the wave. Tried a 5-10 Hellfire and was disappointingly slow and draggy. Thinking KQF or KDM?

The KQF is pretty fast and a good choice for your size. The KDM would be more designed for light wind and has a bit more volume than your El Fuego. What fin configuration did you put the Hellfire in? As a quad it should really move.

    Thanks for the interest,

Tried the 5-10 Hellfire (surf construction) with some mid-sized thrusters (EAs or Yus or something), felt slow compared to the El Fuego with Stretch quads. Currently thinking 5-6 Hellfire may be the high wind answer. El Fuego works pretty amazing in light winds.

You should definitely see more speed when setup as a quad. The 5'6" KHF is something I use for lighter/mid wind days and works really well but I weigh in around 160lbs. So technically it could work as a higher wind board for you. The double concave smooths the ride out a lot. One thing you'll love about that board is even with fat hips up front it will still turn on a dime as there's not a ton of rail in the water. If your on the OR coast towards the weekend or early next week (Florence) then hit me up and take it for a spin.

If the wind cooperates, I'll be there. Would love to test drive the 5-6 KHF (or have my good friend Ben at Oregon Surf Shop, your dealer in Lincoln City, take it for a rip).
