    Hi there,
i am interested in the firewire boards.
my question is now, which of the 5 boards is the best suited for our conditions here.
i actually prefer to ride with more of a real surf feeling than with a lot of power.
hence, i was thinking about the flexfire, KQF or Dominator.
i weigh about 174 lb and am 6.1 ft tall.
i assume the dominator is more suitable for really light wind and smaller waves? wind is plenty here and surf too, but i rather want to fly a smaller kite and ride more volume than to much powered.
what is the KQF intended for? thanks a lot.

    Hi,

When I think of SA I think of wind and the 5'11" KTJ Taj would be a great pick for vertical attack on the waves there. You have about 10lbs on me and that's my main board. It would have a little less volume than some of the other models. If you really want a heavy focus on more float then the KFE 6'2" is a going to get you slightly more true surf feel but with all the wind there I'd still be tempted to get the Taj. These are both pure tri fins with more conventional shape. The 5'6" Hellfire is a performance hybrid that would also work well despite it's short size. The KQF and DOM are going to have a TON of float and would suggest them more for light wind even at your size/weight.

    Hope this helps...

    Hey Steven,

Not sure if you're still looking for feedback.

As far as I know, only the KQF (quad), KFE 6'2" and TJ 5'11" are available in South Africa so far.

From what you describe, the KFE 6'2" sounds like the one you are looking for. I personally prefer the Taj, but it definitely needs a bit more wind than the KFE.

I'm based in KZN but can get a demo KFE to you if need's be. You can call me on 0836 five 7 five 7 five 9.

Sorry, didn't answer your question on the KQF.

The KQF is a far more "stable" platform than the KFE and is very forgiving of foot placement etc. It' has much better upwind characteristics than the KFE and is very forgiving.

However, the quad setup does not bottom turn or snap off the top anywhere as sweetly as the KFE or Taj. The KQF is being offered in a 5 fin box setup allowing it to be ridden in a thruster configuration, but I don't know when they will eventually be available in South Africa.

If you currently surf a quad, or if you like a more stable, slightly wider arced bottom turn then the KFE may just be the one.

    Appreciate the comments TSports!

I try to break the boards into different catagories. The KFE/Taj give you more of a traditional (and insane) thruster feel. The HFE and DOM, being hybrids are more of a cross platform (quad/tri)/condition boards but sacrifice some of that traditional feel from the KFE/Taj.

Hope all of this info helps. If you still can't decide get one of each :)
