I'm trying to focus more on the surf and have a custom 5'11" x 18-1/2 but think it would be good to add another board for lighter/marginal conditions. What board(s) should I consider? Ride the east coast (Hatteras and other spots).
I am not a surfer but want to work on it.
When is the Hellfire 5'10" going to be available? Would that be a good choice?
    5'11" and 180 lbs.
    Thanks
    Tony

    Hey Tony,

Based on your weight and ability our KQF600S (6'0" swallow tail) would be a great choice. It will certainly provide enough float for light wind conditions and can be setup as a quad (more upwind) or tri (more vertical surfing). The Hellfire should be released by early summer.

    Thanks for the interest,
    -Brian

Thanks Brian. Not in a terrible hurry as the season is just starting up here. How do the Quadraflex and Hellfire compare? If the Hellfire were available now would you still pick the Quadraflex?

    Tony,

The Quadraflex will be a little bit faster and probably looser than the HF 5'10". The HF is considered a "contemporary hybrid" with flatter rocker and will want to glide a little more over the flat spots. Both boards would suit Hatteras surf but I think the Quadraflex with a bit more rocker is still a good fit when the waves get a little steeper. Can't really go wrong with either though.

    Hope this helps,
    -Brian

    Brian,
What about the 5'8" Dom? How would that compare to the Quadraflex?

    Good question Tony,

The 5'8" Dom is going to feel a lot shorter, and wider but works very well in soft mushy waves due to the extra width and bottom contour. It's another board that shines for upwind/mush surf when setup as a quad. The Dom is also a good choice but is going to feel small for you if your used to riding a 5'11" or larger board. That's why for your particular setup I'd still lean towards the KQF 6'0".
