Firewire is proud to announce that 11 year-old phenom Sebastian Williams has embraced Firewire’s innovative Futures Shapes Technology (FST) and is the latest addition to the company’s talented athlete roster.
The FST tech features parabolic balsa wood rails and sandwich construction to optimize flex patterns, which in turn increases performance. FST is currently used by World Tour competitors Taj Burrow and Michel Bourez. Sebastian was the youngest member of the prestigious Hot 100 this year and if his surfing ability so far is any indication of his future potential, he’s going to continue turning heads for years to come.
The collaboration also includes Gary Linden who has not only shaped Sebastian’s boards since day one, but who is also recognized as one of the world’s best and most experienced board designers.
“Its not every day that a talent such as Sebastian comes along and Firewire is ecstatic he has chosen to endorse our technology”, said Mark Price, CEO Firewire Surfboards. “We’re also excited to work with Gary Linden as both Chuy Reyna, Firewire’s Marketing Director, and I rode his boards during our Pro careers, so we can attest first hand to his board design skills”.
“Having the opportunity to apply Firewire technology to the board designs that Sebastian and I have been working on is special,” said Gary Linden. “The incredibly important aspect of flex can now be incorporated into boards built for lighter surfers who without these construction methods were essentially left out of the benefits. Reuniting with a couple of my former team riders, Mark and Chuy is an added bonus insuring the integrity of the surfboards we produce.”
When asked about teaming up with Firewire, Sebastian’s excitement was palpable. “It’s a huge honor to join Taj Burrow and the other great surfers on the Firewire team. I’m stoked to have Gary Linden continue to design my signature model, and I’m looking forward to raising my performance level with the most advance surfboards on the planet!”
“Firewire believes that exponential improvements in performance can only be achieved through new ideas, materials and construction methods, which in turn will open up new design opportunities”.

I am pretty sure the inclusion of the word ‘bunny’ to describe this right handed Teahupoo impersonator has to do with something you might find on the beach. Nothing warm and fuzzy about this wave.

A good one of Nev responding to questions that came in from the social networks. A humorous look into who Nev is as a person…

This amazing special is on for a limited period while stocks last so score your stick asap. Check it here.
So far the Quik Pro in France has gone in the favor of both team riders. I have heard the grumblings that Taj was overscored against Travis Logie in Round 3, but the guy has been on the short end of the stick all year. Think back to Adriano’s floater that beat him in Brazil or B-Mart’s repetitive backhand attack at Winkipop that sent him home with a 25th. All I can say is I am stoked to see Taj Burrow through. Hopefully the boys keep laying into the French beachies.

With so many guys out there getting footage, you never know where the next sick video will come from. Needless to say, when I got to work and checked the ‘hotsheets’ to find this video of Michel Bourez throwing down in Barbados, I was happy. So happy I think I’ll take the rest of the day off. Little clip of some unused stuff Taylor had floating around his HD. Thought it was worth a share!
