Custom Board Design (CBD) Product Review By Transworld Surf

We had Transworld Surf‘s on line editor, Justin Cote, build himself a sled using our innovative CBD platform and give a little feedback on the whole process. This is a cool and honest perspective of the Firewire custom board building and ordering process from someone who has gone through it all. GIVE IT A READ here.

Thanks to Transworld Surf for giving CBD a whirl.

“A late season mission to Isla Natividad was the first time I rode my new self-designed Firewire. It went well in the punchy, hollow beachbreak but is probably a bit too thin and narrow for the small, mushy crap I ride at home.” Photo: Bielmann/SPL

FIREWIRE Supports SurfAid through the Board Art Benefit

On October 8th and 9th, 2011 at the Sacred Craft Surf Expo in Del Mar, California, the Board Art Benefit event brought together thirteen incredible artists who teamed up to support SurfAid International. Each artist partnered with various shapers to create live art on surfboards as thousands of people watched, resulting in one of the most unique collections of surfboards ever assembled. Once finished, the boards will be auctioned off to raise monies for SurfAid’s life saving programs on the Mentawai and surrounding islands.

Firewire proudly provided boards for Heather Ritts, Norman Daniels and Peter Pierce.

The first showing of the completed collection is scheduled to be held at the Ocean Art Gallery on Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach, CA on January 21st, 2012.

“The Board Art Benefit was designed to bring surfing’s leading artists and shapers together to produce one of the most unique collections of surfboards ever assembled to raise awareness for SurfAid International. Thirteen incredible artists teamed up with shapers of their own choosing at the Sacred Craft Surf Expo in Del Mar on October 8th & 9th, 2011. They proceeded to create live art on the boards for a crowd numbering in the thousands at what may have been the finest live art event the surfing world has ever seen. Each of the boards will be auctioned at a later event with the proceeds benefitting SurfAid International.”

TAJ’S FIJI VIGNETTE – PART 2 OF 3

I wanted to take a moment to state that when Taj Burrow makes a promise, he keeps it. The example I will use in support of this claim is last week, TB put out “Fiji Vignette 1/3.” Now, I am no laboratory scientist that spends his day crunching numbers, but that made me think there might be 2 more on the way. Things are looking good here, as 2 minutes ago he tweeted about the second installment. Enjoy it, its just as tasty.

Sacred Craft Board Art

A little while back SurfAid came to us with a really cool idea that involved painting a few board at Sacred Craft and then showcasing them at various events before auctioning them off to raise money for future SurfAid endeavors.

Here is a little gallery that shows the artists at work and their final results. A special thanks to all the artists involved.
