Sally Fitzgibbons and Firewire Team Up

Firewire is proud to announce the signing of a long-term agreement with Sally Fitzgibbons, in support of her quest to win the Women’s World Tour (WT) title.

Sally has proven herself to be a top contender as World #2 for the past 3 years while winning 5 WT events, including the US Open and back-to-back Rip Curl Pros at Bells Beach. Sally is determined to push her surfing as far as it can go, combining her innate talent with peak conditioning.

“We’re always stoked when an athlete of Sally’s caliber endorses our designs and technology,” said Firewire’s Marketing Director Chuy Reyna, ”and if our boards can give her a slight edge at that level of competition, combined with her passion and drive, that can make all the difference.”

Sally added, “I am so excited to be joining the Firewire team, it seems like such a natural fit for me. I want to improve my surfing every time I hit the water and try to take it to the next level, and I know my Firewires are going to take me there. The advanced technology is perfect for the way I feel and think about my boards and I believe it will give me that extra edge I need to become a World Champion!”

“Firewire believes that refinements to the shape of today’s modern surfboards can only produce incremental performance benefits. Exponential improvements in performance require the ongoing development of new materials and construction methods which, in turn, will fuel new design opportunities.”

Michel Bourez Pro Model lands on Firewire’s
Custom Board Design Platform

Following a strong 2012 release of Michel Bourez’s pro model, Firewire is excited to announce its addition to our Custom Board Design platform (CBD). Initially designed for competitive use by Nev Hyman, the retail model stretches the Spartan’s preferred dimensions over a range from 5’8 to 6’6. Now, customers and professional surfers alike can make subtle tweaks in order to create a custom version of the Michel Bourez Pro Model specifically suited to their needs.

The CBD software, powered by ShapeLogic, is especially unique because it puts the user in control of modifying his or her own board. These personal adjustments are then displayed in a 3D PDF, which allows the surfer to review every inch of their custom design before it’s even built. Additionally, once a magic board is found, it can be ordered over and over again. For more information, or to take stab at tweaking your own Michel Bourez model, please visit the CBD webpage by clicking following the below link:

CBD Now Available in Europe: In addition to expanding the CBD quiver, Firewire is stoked to offer custom board design capability to European surfers. “Surfers in the US and Australia are stoked on the CBD program with over 10,000 boards designed and saved by over 3,000 users”, said CEO Mark Price. “The CBD platform is now deeper and more robust than ever before so we’re stoked that European surfers can also experience it”.

Firewire Launches the White Rapidfire Technology

For Immediate Release

Firewire Launches the White Rapidfire Technology

A product of continued research and development, the White Rapidfire (RF) construction substitutes a PVC-free and VOC-free composite deck skin for the original bamboo inlay characteristic of our initial RF technology. This composite maintains the overall flex and durability of the board giving it the same great RF ride with a fresh new appearance.

Rapidfire was originally created in conjunction with Surfboard Suspension Systems, incorporating a core shaped from 1.5lb fused EPS foam and a bamboo skin applied using Firewire’s proven sandwich construction techniques. The result is a lightweight, high performance build with a highly durable deck and an incredibly lively flex response.

The new White Rapidfire mimics the high performance of the original ‘bamboo’ RF tech, while boasting environmentally responsive materials and a totally different aesthetic.

Initially this technology will be offered in the following shapes: the Alternator, Hellrazor, Hellfire, Dominator, Spitfire and Sweet Potato.
