THE FIREWIRE CBD
(Custom Board Design)

About 9 months ago, in collaboration with Shape LOGIC, Firewire launched the revolutionary CBD (Custom Board Design) program, allowing surfers to custom design a Firewire surfboard over the web, and to then view 3D images of the board before it was built, including its volume. In addition, the CBD program also automatically creates the CNC files to shape the board, and with the checks and balances Nev put into place to avoid anyone making a ‘design’ error, the program is incredibly user-friendly.

The back-end engine of CBD includes NX, a complex software application developed by Siemens. When Siemen’s saw how we had used NX to drive CBD, they were incredibly impressed and decided to use CBD as a case study in their marketing efforts to show potential customers the power of the NX software. The links below* are for the 6 minute video produced by Siemen’s that is going global. In addition, Firewire will be using the video throughout our marketing efforts. The video includes sick Taj footage and also gives the viewer some insight into the technological advances that Firewire has proudly brought to the surfboard industry.
