Please tell me your Name, Age, hometown and Occupation:
My name is Jesse Heilman I am 22 Years old, from the amazing town of Daytona Beach Florida , and I am currently earning my living from surfing.
How did you discover Firewire?
I first heard about Firewire from a good friend of mine back home, who was claiming they rode really well. When I looked more into them I found that one of my favorite guys in the surf industry Chuy Reyna , was running their marketing department, so I was able to get a deal on a board through him.
What is your take on Firewire Tech/boards?
Before I started working with Firewire, I have always shied away from boards made of anything other than the traditional PU construction. It seems that most tech surfboard manufacturers lose sight of performance when trying to increase the longevity of a board, which is a major factor consumers are looking for. As a professional surfer I am all about how well my boards ride, and the beauty of Firewire is that they have developed a technology that increases the life of your boards, while making them faster, lighter, and more responsive!!
I’m trying to get people to understand that boards made out of foam can and will break under the right impact; do you have any broken board stories?
My list of broken board stories could keep you reading all day, but since riding for Firewire I have really only broken a couple boards. And the fact is, I had been riding almost all of those boards for close to a year or more. Regardless of what your surfboard is made of, chances are put under enough pressure and stress it will break. I am not going to promise that if you are riding Firewire’s you will not be breaking boards, but I can guarantee you will be searching a long time to find a reliable surfboard that reacts as well as a Firewire.
