Mindcraft in Mexico with Shaper Daniel "Tomo" Thomson

When the shaper heads on a surf trip, you pay attention to the board they pack.

During a recent two-week strike mission to Mainland Mexico, Daniel "Tomo" Thomson (@tomo_surfboards) packed a stock 5'7" Mindcraft in I-Bolic 2.0 Technology for the long, hollow right points of Oaxaca. With consistent swell throughout the trip, it was the perfect chance to put the board through its paces in everything from deep barrels to long, open-face walls.

"I was surfing in Mainland Mexico in Oaxaca. The waves were super consistent and fun during my two-week visit. I really enjoy it down there. It reminds me of an extra-tropical version of East Coast Australia. I was riding a stock 5'7" Mindcraft in I-Bolic 2.0 Technology with the KSR thruster setup. Meet the Mindcraft designed by Kelly Slater (@kellyslater) and Daniel Thomson (@tomo_surfboards), a minimalist shape designed for pure function. Built in our patented I-Bolic 2.0 Technology, and grom sizes (5'2" and under) built in our all-new G-Flex Technology.

The Mindcraft was designed to connect the surfer to their equipment like never before, a mind surfing experience from the minds of two visionaries. The outline was chosen for its minimalism and pure function, "a seamless blend of straightened elliptical curves," says Daniel. The shape and design provide tons of speed and drive, with a feeling of pinpoint precision and the ability to turn on a dime - this board stays under your feet and goes where you want it to go.

The bottom contours are smoother, more continuous, and more subtle compared to Tomo's past models, offering plenty of speed and flow with a moderate performance rocker. There's a single to double concave that keeps the design engaged with the wave face while still offering lively response familiar to Tomo's other designs.

Pair with Kelly Slater's newest rake template, the Endorfins KSR Fin Set as either a Quad or a Thruster, allowing for maximum versatility in waves 2-6 foot.
