Description

Introducing the Macy-Boo, Rob Machado's first longboard design, a user-friendly shape created with his daughter, Macy.

Rob's been making logs for his daughter Macy for quite a few years now, drawing
inspiration from his personal quiver of surfboards, short to long, from Donald
Takayama's "Model T" to Skype Frye's gliders, and an old photo of Macy's grandfather with a classic Australian log.

Rob had a custom from Donald from the late 90s, a board the California style icon rode on a trip to Costa Rica with Joel Tudor and Skipe Frye for the filming of Thomas Campbell's "Sprout." A few others that have given Rob inspiration include a Hansen Surfboards 5050, a Ryan Burch nose rider, and a 9'6" Skip Frye glider.

"Logs have been in my life from way back. I live right in front of Cardiff Reef and I'm
surrounded by some of the best loggers in the world. Tudor, Burch...I'm blessed to be surrounded by such amazing surfboard builders that have inspired me to ride all
different types of surfboards and experience an abundance of feelings of wave riding."

This traditional style log has single concave under the nose, a rolled belly through the middle feeding into vee through the back section, and a flipped tail rocker for nose riding.

Wave Type

A traditional style log, this nose rider works well in just about any conditions. From the
smallest days to 6' Saint Leu, Macy puts this board in a wide variety of waves.

Board Features

On the thinner side as far as logs go, at under 3" thick, the Macy-Boo has a wide outline that continues the width into the tail, has super soft rails, a nose concave up front for nose riding, into a belly that feeds into a vee with double concave through the back of the shape with a flipped tail rocker to help with nose riding.

"Rented a 9’6, seemed to paddle good how I’d usually align myself on a board. But I had to shift way forward going for a wave, and it’d get stuck in the lip. Could’ve been the gigantic fin (I usually ride 3 fins) but something about it wasn’t connecting. There was no progressive tilt into the wave face, just straight like a diving board then it’d dump into it. I dunno, could’ve been me, could’ve been the spot, could’ve been the conditions. It didn’t go as expected. And for the record, all I ride is firewires, and owned many of Dan mann’s shapes. Baked potato, sweet potato, two double agents, and a chumlee. Frankly it has a feel like a giant version of a baked potato."

"9. 6 I'm 54 200 lbs intermediate surfer Love this board. . paddles into everything before it's breaking or super early. . Turns well from back and middle, trims fast, nose rides, and guess up and down from rail to rail. . not a log and not an HP but super fun on beach and points. . paddles way better than the gem and catches small waves 3 to 1 easy in comparison. It took a while for me to find there right board and now it will be my board for a long while. . pacific northwest west surfing. ."

"This board is amazing. . 9. 6 Paddles amazing and gets into waves before they break with little effort… Doesn't move as nice as the gem but will out catch waves 2 to 1! Still turns, trims, and nose rides really well. . Sooo fun!!"
